Our third trip to the Creation Museum

So last weekend our family took another trip to the Creation Museum in Kentucky. We took Joshua's parents with us and boy did we pack in a lot of things in our trip.
We left super early on Friday morning so we arrived at the museum by 2ish so we could start checking out new displays and walk through different areas. I was fascinated by the new exhibit on Insects, it was incredible and so interesting. They had lots and lots of displays, lots of movies, etc. They also had a wax scientist who talked to you about different subjects.
Then we moved on to a Buddy Davis concert, where Buddy Davis was so sweet to sing a song that Gideon specially requested and I had contacted Buddy Davis and asked if he would sing for Gideon. That song is "Billions of Dead things", Gideon fondly calls it the water song. It was so fun to see him in concert again. We then moved outside...to the petting zoo, they also have a zipline now and a petting zoo.
Gideon and Tirzah loved walking around in the gardens as well, they are so pretty. Gideon figured out how to get some free food to feed the animals. He was so cute!
We went back inside for a planetarium show and to do a little shopping (one of Joshua and I's favorite places to shop). We then headed off to get some dinner and to go to our hotel. We stayed nearby because Joshua and his Dad came back later to the museum for a Star Gazing event. They have big telescopes set up on different things like nebulas and galaxies and then explain what you are seeing. The guys said it was well worth the money and wonderful. The next morning we drove up to Ohio to the Caesar Creek Lake Park where the guys were attending a fossil hunt event done by the museum.
They got to hear Dr. Andrew Snelling speak on fossils and history, etc. Then in that park they have a huge area of limestone that they chipped away and there are millions of fossils laying on the ground, on the wall etc. And you can take them home for free as long as they aren't too big. Joshua and his Dad had been given information about what they would find and would spouting off all these scientific names for fossils that look like shells and coral and horns, etc.
We were able to join them for a while and collect some ourselves. The kids loved that! We also spent the morning playing at the playground. It is so amazing to find all these oceanic fossils in Ohio!!!
So after the fossil event, we went back by the museum for a little bit before heading to some friend's of ours home to stay the evening. We went to their local meeting on Sunday and had a wonderful time of worshiping the Lord and fellowship! Then we headed home getting home late Sunday evening. I definitely recommend checking out the museum's events when you plan your trip!

Learning About Monarch Butterflies

So we got to learn about the Monarch butterfly up at the Ohio Caesar Creek Lake visitor center last Saturday. They are helping replenish the monarchs and help tag them and set them on their way to Mexico. It was quite the amazing learning experience that the kids and I got to be apart of.

So first off we got to see a tank that had caterpillars on milkweed and hanging out eating in different places.
Then on top of the tank the caterpillars would climb up and hang for a couple of days until they pushed their skin off and formed a chrysalis.
Then once they had turned into butterflies they were removed from the tank. We learned how to tell which were male and which were female.
Then they got a sticker put on them so they could be tracked.
Then they were released. Tirzah got to hold one!
On it's way...once it warms up!

Yard Sale Disappointments!

So I was super excited to take the kids and hit some yard sales last Saturday and Gideon was excited because he had some money. Well, the yard sales were terrible! Pretty much there was only one I got out at and bought a little fireman costume and a toy organizer.
I debated getting the toy organizer because one of the shelves was a bit beat up and taped and it was missing a bin. However I have seen several people looking for these recently on my swap group. They were asking $10 so I asked if I bought it would they throw in the fireman outfit? They said yes (it was only $1). So I got it. I didn't know how much the storage shelves go for but I put it out there for $18 and got many bites...and then sold the fireman outfit for $5.
So all in all it wasn't a total lose day but so disappointing for myself and the kids. I also picked up a car seat that was a mistake. I bought it for $10 and realized it was a booster not a strap carseat. Also the lady didn't tell me it was close to expiring. So I'm selling that for the $10 I paid for it, still on the look out for a cheap carseat...

Oh, Yes, this little girl is One!!!!

SO I know it has been a month since Chloe turned one but Chloe had a cute bear birthday party. We had it bear themed because her nickname is Chloe bear from her snow suit she wore last winter. So we made bear cupcakes and had little bear party hats. Chloe claps every time she hears the song "happy birthday" now because she heard it sung to her so many times! That's what happens when you celebrate early!

Auntie Maddie is party spirit!
Cousin Asher joining in the fun!

A yard Sale Update

So I'm still hitting the yard sales these days, just so busy with everything else I don't have time to blog! But I'll share about the last two Saturdays that I've yard sale shopped. Last week I only was able to pop into one sale but it was a good one! I found all the costumes below for $10, this is the prime time to stock up on costumes because everyone is looking for them for halloween and Christmas. The even better part of these costumes is three of them were Disney store which sell for a good amount. I have already sold the Incredibles and Batman for $10 a piece. I almost made back everything I spent at the whole sale in two costumes. That includes paying for the adorable Dora kitchen I picked up below for $10, it talks in english and spanish and has some cute kitchen items with it. They gave it to me for $10 because I was getting so much other stuff. I also picked up that really nice alphabet train puzzle for the kids.

The week before we hit a really fun church yard sale and got a bunch of things. Joshua picked up a backpacking backpack. I picked up a stool, potty, train, lots of toys, books, etc. The potty, cookie jar and stool I got for $1 and can resell for $5 a piece.  The kids picked up some new toys and really enjoyed this yard sale.
