Woodworking this Summer: the Master Craftsman

This summer Joshua has spent a lot of time making furniture for our room. In fact we now only have one piece of furniture--a dresser that he didn't make in our room. He hopes to make an armoire to replace it...but this summer he has made us matching night stands...a corner table for our computer and office supplies...and his last is so amazing--an archery rack!

Tirzah's Special Box Made by Daddy

A long, long time ago, before Gideon or Tirzah were ever born but when I was pregnant with Gideon, Joshua and I discussed baby names. Our two names we had were Gideon and Tirzah and the summer before the baby was born Joshua used a band saw to carve out the two names in wood. Fast forward a couple years and Joshua made a beautiful wooden box for Gideon to place his own special items into and placed his name on it. Recently Joshua has been working on a new box for Tirzah (it comes with a secret drawer)and this week he finished it. She has been so happy and has placed her special dress up items inside for now...I am so blessed to be married to such a skilled man who loves to work with his hands.

Joshua's youngest brother Daniel, his wife Alaina and baby April has been in town for a brief visit and it has been nice for our children to all play and catch up. Below are the three brothers and their three daughters all born last year! Aren't they all beautiful?

Joshua and Gideon got to help Daniel make an amazing table from a tree that the boys cut down last week. Look at that wood isn't it beautiful?? I think he has some leftover to make another one...the Shelor guys love to work with their hands...

The Gift of Organization

For my birthday my wonderful husband gave me the gift or organization! I long to have a completely orderly house and I am working towards that and Joshua is helping me. He made me this shelf that goes next to the computer that I can keep things orderly on it and it also came with a new printer/scanner! We needed that quite bad since our printer just broke and it was rather annoying to have a scanner and printer sitting beside you taking up so much space. Anyway, the shelf is beautiful and I feel much more orderly! On another note, my sister-in-law and brother gave me an amazing gift that others will just laugh at. It's the new Downy Unstoppables that make your laundry just smell soooo wonderful even through wearing and to the next wash. I so need to go start a load of laundry, it makes me want to do laundry more!
