Disciplined Life Day 1&2

So I am starting the challenge of having a more disciplined life and using Crystal Paine's new book: 21 Days to a More Disciplined Life. I thought I would keep everyone updated on how I am doing with it by posting my challenges and accomplishments.

For day one I was to pick a small task to accomplish off my to do list and I chose cleaning off our chest at the end of my bed and I got that done! Then I was to take a mega project and plan out how to accomplish it in 21 days. So I chose to clean/organize/declutter/finish our guest room. I have been meaning to do that pretty much since we moved in, I need curtains and it needs to have a lot of stuff gotten rid of...so that is my project! I started yesterday by finishing going through fabric I want to get rid of and setting it aside and listing it on my blog.

Today I have to go through patterns I want to get rid of in my guest room...and I am choosing a habit to start implementing. I am going to try after every meal to at least clear all dishes and wipe trays and table and sweep if needed. So here it goes...

Crystal's book is amazing and so helpful, pick yourself up a copy if you haven't so you can join me in becoming more disciplined!

Organizing Toys

Gideon and Tirzah's room has been quite a mess for a while because I don't have anywhere to put their toys. And they wind up in a communal basket and such a mess! They love to knock it over and so things are all over the floor. Well I finally decided to take control and organize their toys. So I got several plastic containers and organized the toys according to type and then decided to label them with pictures so that the children would know where to put their toys if they have more than one out. Works great! Gideon knows exactly where to put his cars and trains now...and he loves that he has pictures on his boxes! So I have some success in their room and it looks so nice and clean now because everything has its space!

Changing Out Clothes

So I'm working on changing out my children's clothes from winter to summer and of course also keeping in mind that they have to be in the right sizes...people have been so generous recently and given me lots of clothes, so I thought this would be a good time to just work on going through ALL the clothes! I have a "sell/giveaway" pile, put away in drawers pile and pack up in boxes pile. I am almost done but this is what it started out looking like:
And this is what it is starting to look like:
What do you other mamas out there do with all your excessive amounts of clothes? I feel like I'm always going through them and my kids just keep growing. I have a pile for Once Upon a Child...then I'll try selling them at my yard sale or craigslist or giving them away. I am totally in the cleaning out mood! Spring cleaning has a hold of me!

The Gift of Organization

For my birthday my wonderful husband gave me the gift or organization! I long to have a completely orderly house and I am working towards that and Joshua is helping me. He made me this shelf that goes next to the computer that I can keep things orderly on it and it also came with a new printer/scanner! We needed that quite bad since our printer just broke and it was rather annoying to have a scanner and printer sitting beside you taking up so much space. Anyway, the shelf is beautiful and I feel much more orderly! On another note, my sister-in-law and brother gave me an amazing gift that others will just laugh at. It's the new Downy Unstoppables that make your laundry just smell soooo wonderful even through wearing and to the next wash. I so need to go start a load of laundry, it makes me want to do laundry more!

Gideon begged for his picture!
